Every meal needs some preparation. Today, however, we have reached a new low. If you’re like me, you probably hate chopping, mixing, and stirring ingredientsEspecially when all the food just ends up in your stomach in a matter of minutes anyway. These foods, which are not recipes, require no effort, time or preparation. Congratulations, you have reached the pinnacle in gastronomic apathy. These are four delicious, easy snack options that I have found indispensable over the past 12 months of my ketogenic diet (and -62 pounds).
1. Blue Diamond BOLD Flavored Almonds
I sometimes pour several gallons of almonds into a tub and just swim with them. They are bland and have a strange texture. If you’re anything like me, you might have long dismissed the idea that almonds can be eaten as a snack. Blue Diamond’s BOLD flavored almonds are a culinary delight. I purchase these almonds by the pound (literally 16 oz bags) every week and it has become my highlight of the day. When you bite into an almond, it is coated with flavor dust. These almonds remind me of the Snyder’s flavored pretzel pieces; they are just as delicious, but low in carb, high in fat, and high in fiber. Blue Diamond offers many different flavors which are great for mixing up snacks. You can try them all until you discover your favorite. The Habanero BBQJalapeno Grillhouse and Wasabi & Soy sauce flavors are my favorites. Each serving contains 28 nuts (a good handful) and 23 net carbs depending on the flavor. You can quickly rack up the calories and net carbs (170 calories x 6 tablespoons = ruining your daily MFP goals). They are worth every calorie and carb they contain, I promise. These can be found in many sizes and flavors at convenience and grocery stores. The bulk bags are much more affordable than cans. Amazon is the best place to buy 1lb bags.

2. Cheese Sticks and Cheese Blocks, Cheese Slices, and Cheese Spreads
Delicious Pepper Jack Cheese Cheeses are low in carbs, and high in fats make them a great snack to curb hunger throughout the day. Cheese should be stored in the fridge but it can be kept at room temperature for several days without deterioration. It may become a bit “sweaty”, but it will get better with time. It’s perfect for day trips, work, and even overnight travel. You can just throw some cheese in your bag, purse, backpack, or fanny pack if you prefer, and then unwrap it when you are ready. If you forget to bring a low-carb snack with you, stop by any gas station or convenience store to get some. You can almost guarantee they will have some cheddar or mozzarella cheese in their coolers. Jackpot. Jackpot.
3. Quest Protein Bars
Quest Chocolate Brownie LabelQuest bars are a favorite among members of the /r/keto community as well as keto diet Facebook groups. They are high in protein, and very high fiber. You may be a little scared to look at the label the first time you see it. For example, the Chocolate Brownie Quest Bar has 24g carbohydrates. The good news is that 19g of those 24g are made up of dietary fiber. It has only 5g net carbs. Nice. Total CarbsDietary FiberNet carbs The Quest Bars contain 3-5g net carbohydrates. Some bars also contain Erythritol, a sugar alcohol that is calorie-free. Because of the way it is digested, Erythritol may be a better option than sugar. Some bars can also be sweetened with Sucralose, Stevia, and Luo Han Guo. All of these are ketogenic-friendly options, but they can be used in place of natural sugar. Be careful, some people have reported that sugar alcohols can cause ketosis. You should always be on guard until you are certain. You can order a variety of flavors online so you should definitely give them a shot.

4. Pork Rinds (Seriously).
Get your Pig Skins Pork rinds are thin slices of pig skin that have been deep fried in lard. The description sounds a little too bland, I’m sorry. While I haven’t had the pleasure to snack on them yet, other keto-dieters rave about them. It makes sense, because any snack that is related to bacon should be delicious. Frito-Lay offers Baken-Ets brand fried pork rinds. The macros are great for low-carb snacks. The label also says “Chicharrones”. They also have the words “Chicharrones” on the label. If you can overlook the idea of porkrinds, it’s a great snack option for those on a low-carb or ketogenic diet. Are you too lazy to run to the supermarket?
