What ingredients are needed to make keto air-fried chicken?
Chicken – I prefer chicken thighs. They are fattier, juicier, and more flavorful that chicken breasts. They are also often much cheaper than chicken breasts. You can substitute whatever you like based on what you have available, but I recommend chicken thighs. Seasoning of your choice – Some prefer salt and pepper. Some prefer to use a mix of garlic powder, onion powder, paprika and other seasonings. I love to season this keto fried chicken with Slap Ya Mama Cajun Seasoning. The White Pepper Blend is my favorite. This blend is seriously delicious. This recipe requires cooking spray. It keeps the batter from drying out on the chicken’s skin when the fan blows on it. Also, it gives you that crispy, golden texture you want. Eggs – This recipe calls for two large eggs. Heavy whipping cream – You can also use Half and Half or Buttermilk. Almond flour – I prefer to use a blanched, finely milled almond flour such as Blue Diamond. For a while, this has been my favorite brand. Grated Parmesan cheese – This is the stuff you’ll find in the green plastic container at the grocery store. It’s great for keto breading!

Prep Time10 minCook Time20 minTotal Time30 minute
Ingredients
Chicken
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast 1 tbsp seasoning of your choice Cooking Spray
Egg Mixture
2 eggs 1 cup heavy whipping Cream
Breading
1 cup almond flour 1/2 cups grated Parmesan cheese 1 Tbsp seasoning
Instructions
Place chicken thighs in a large bowl and rub with the seasonings of your choice. If you have the time, this step is optional. After breading chicken thighs, spray them with your preferred cooking spray before placing in an air fryer basket. As many batches as you need. Set the oven to 350°F. Let the chicken cool on a rack.
Notes
My experience has taught me that cooking spray is essential. This helps to keep the batter from sticking to the chicken’s skin when the fan blows on it. It also helps create the crispy, golden texture you want. The batter should be allowed to dry in the fridge. This is another tip I discovered while making this recipe. To get a crisper skin, you can place your breaded chicken on an oven-proof plate for at least one hour before air-frying.
